Laura Laser

Artist Statement

Laura is an artist residing in Little Rock, AR. She received a minor in visual arts and has a master’s degree in social work. Most of her artistic studies have come from independent training with exceptional artists in the Little Rock community.

Laura accepts great inspiration for her art from “things as they are.” Her work often reflects her surroundings and what she finds interesting in the world around her. Color and form are of greatest importance to Laura as she feels they translate the vibrations of both her inner and outward impressions of life. The composition of her work anchors the form and color creating pleasing images for the viewer. Laura’s desire is that her pieces “feel good” and add a quality of positive energy to whatever environment they are placed in.

Laura’s current work is inspired by colors and textures existing in nature. From weathered train cars, fields of wild flowers, lush green leafy foliage, to the sky, she attempts to capture the mood using color and intention. Her mixed media work is also an expression of what she finds beautiful. Signs, billboards, and posters woven together with vibrant color are the basis on which she overlays “pop art like” screen printed images. Her work reflects her enthusiasm for life–”fun, unpredictable, and always interesting.”

She has most recently received a prestigious 2008 Delta award.
